Baptism in the Holy Spirit, promised, fulfilled, tongues, how to receive
We need to be "full of the Spirit" and "walk in the river of anointing."
-Many people in the Old Testament had a measure of the Holy Spirit or the Holy Spirit came upon them. Samson (strength), Daniel (visions), Elijah (miracles), Elisha (miracles)
The disciples had the Spirit "with" them while working with Jesus
---John 14:17 "the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."
---Luke 10:19-20 "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."
Jesus was the first to be "full of the Holy Spirit."
---Luke 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased."
---Luke 4:1, 18 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because he has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
---Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him
He had the spirit without measure
---John 3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure
God intends for every Christian to be "full of the Spirit" and "walk in the River Anointing"
--Jesus sent the fullness of the Holy Spirit back for every one of us after He ascended to the Father
---John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you but if I depart, I will send Him to you
---John 14:17 The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither see Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
--We can have the same anointing of the Holy Spirit upon us that Jesus had.
---Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you
---John 14:12 Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and the greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
What is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit?
The initial "filling" of Christians with the Holy Spirit is called the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" and it has the evidence of the speaking in tongues.
We are baptized IN the Holy Spirit by Jesus.
---Luke 3:16 John answered, saying to all "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
---John 1:33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, Upon whom you see, the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit
---Acts 2:32-33 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
There is one "baptism" but there should be many "fillings" throughout you life.
--We are to remain filled with the Holy Spirit, because we may leak
---Ephesians 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be fill with the Spirit
--Continual re-filling, way of life- not a one time experience
---Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel

It was promised
In the Old Testament
---Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions
---Acts 2:16-21 And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out my spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and sings in the earth beneath; blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Evidence of Speaking in tongues
This is a touchy subject, if you would like the notes on it, feel free to reply and I will add them in a separate letter. I would not want you to read these scriptures and get confused, so maybe these would be better at a later time after you have had a chance to take in this other amount of knowledge
How do I receive it?
Accept Jesus a your savior and have your sins forgiven
---Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
Ask in faith for Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit
---Luke 11:9-13 Herod said, "John I have beheaded, but who is this whom I hear such things? So he sought to see Him. And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the Kingdom of God, and He healed those who needed healing.
