What happens when we die? Why is there a fear when it comes to death?

Let us first start off by saying, “That we were not given the spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.” This can be found in 2 Timothy 1:7. From the moment we were born our bodies are constantly moving towards death, but it is only a physical death. We were created from the dust of the earth and only once God breathed life into our bodies did we begin to live. When we die, the dust returns to the earth from which it was formed and the breath that was breathed into us will spend an eternity in either heaven or hell. Now is a good time to tell you how it is one receives the right to go to heaven. When a person accepts Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit and Jesus, which is one in the same, comes and lives within them. It is this Spirit, along with your soul, that lives for eternity. The body is a mere vessel for the Lord to work through, so when your work here is done, your body dies and your Sprit and soul live on. Jesus Christ died on the cross and with Him died your sins. Before Jesus died, he drank from the cup of inequities, which held all the sins of the world, past present and future. This is how we can confess our sins before God and He can wash them away with the blood of Jesus Christ. The reason it is so important that one accepts Jesus into their lives and becomes “saved” is that the Holy Spirit that lives within you is like a ticket into heaven. It is your boarding pass that allows us to continue on our path into heaven. If one does not have the Holy Spirit or Jesus in their lives, then their soul has no ticket and with no ticket you go to a place where one is not needed. This would be hell where the devil is always waiting for new souls to torture and torment.

The reason many of us fear death and are unsure about the accepting of Jesus Christ is because it is a decision based on faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). What is faith then, you might ask? Well faith is the belief in those things that cannot be experienced with the five senses (touch, smell, taste, sight, and heard). It is a decision based on something one could called trust, because to have faith in God, we must also trust Him. It also says in His word that we are to walk by faith and not by sight(2 Corinthians 5:7). This is when you say to God, “I am not sure where you are going to lead me, but I trust You and I believe in Your word”. One thing I encourage you to look at is the lives of other true Christians. Look where faith and the Lord have brought them. You won’t experience the same life as them, because God has a specific purpose for you, but you will have a life of victory (1 John 5:4-5), God’s word says so and His word is truth ((1 John 5:6).

When God talks of heaven, he speaks of things that really seem unimaginable to us. I mean we try to put heaven into something we can comprehend or understand, but it is so great that we cannot even begin to imagine how great it really is. The whole word or God is truth, not one part is false. If one part of God was wrong, then the whole book would not be true. For something to be truth it has to be completely true, lacking no information. This is what God’s word is, this is what God will use to judge us in the day of judgement. If I were you I would more or less worry about hell, because I know Heaven is real and if heaven is real, then hell has to be real too. I can assure you that there is such a thing as heaven, but unless you have the Holy Spirit in you, then you will not truly understand what I am saying. I mean Christ died on the cross that we may have a chance to live for eternity in heaven. If there is no heaven, then Jesus, God in the flesh, died for no reason. This is not the case, Jesus died on the cross so that all the people of the world might have a chance to see and live for eternity in heaven. We do not need to worry if there is a heaven, we just need to take God at His word, which is truth.

When you completely accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, place faith in God and trust His word following it and asking forgivness when you stray, then death means only one thing:
